Managing multiple SIMs on Android

Most Android phones (Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, and others) let you keep your primary SIM and one or more eSIMs active. Here’s how to manage them.

Rename your SIMs

  • Pixel / stock Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → [Tap SIM] → Edit SIM name
  • Samsung Galaxy: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → [Tap SIM] → Edit name

Choose which SIM is used for data

  • Pixel / stock Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Preferred SIM for data
  • Samsung Galaxy: Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Mobile data

Control calls & texts

  • In SIM settings, you can set the default SIM for calls and SMS.
  • You can also pick a SIM each time you start a new call or message.

Turn off or remove a SIM

  • Turn off: Toggle the SIM OFF in the SIM manager (keeps it stored but disables it).
  • Remove completely: In SIM settings, tap Remove eSIM to delete it.

Quick tip

Keep your primary SIM ON with Data Roaming OFF if you want to keep SMS/call access for banking codes but avoid roaming charges.
